The Bucs Offense Will Get Even Stronger This Week with the Likely Return of Rob Gronkowski

Even if Rob Gronkowski missed National Tight End’s Day, his return is on the horizon for the already stacked Tampa Bay offense. After suffering a Grade 3 chest injury in Week 3 against the Rams, Gronk has had to watch from the sidelines as Tom & Friends won 4 straight; but his time off the field is coming to an end, sooner rather than later. While his injury is, or at least was, serious (he currently has a High IRC at 29%), Bruce Arians said in his Week 7 postgame presser that he hoped to have Gronk back in Week 8. Our algorithm has been a bit more cautious, predicting an ORT of 7 weeks, making him healthy to return in Week 10 against Washington. Gronk suffered multiple rib fractures and a punctured lung, and these injuries won’t fully heal within a month. He can play through the pain with a flak jacket and an injection before the game.
